Orozco: Artists in Dialogue, at Bellas Artes and San Ildefonso
Orozco: Artistas en diálogo
December 4, 2019 – February 29, 2020
In 2019, two venues in the historic center—the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Colegio de San Ildefonso—simultaneously presented Orozco. Artists in Dialogue, a show that sets two contemporary painters, England’s Thomas Newbolt and Mexico’s Roberto Parodi, in conversation around the great muralist José Clemente Orozco. That it happened at two sites at once is no accident: San Ildefonso holds some of Orozco’s most powerful murals, and the dialogue gains another dimension by unfolding exactly where the master painted. Works like Katharsis recall his expressive force. With ArtGuide you follow the conversation between the master and those who inherit him, across both venues.
