Hybrids: the body as territory of the imaginary
Híbridos. El cuerpo como imaginario
March 5, 2018 – May 23, 2018
Hybrids. The Body as Imaginary starts from an unsettling idea: throughout history, nearly every culture has imagined bodies that mix the human with the animal, the divine or the monstrous. The Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, with the National Museum of Anthropology and the Musée de l’Élysée, gathers works ranging from ritual masks to prints by the Chapman brothers inspired by the surrealist exquisite corpse. The result is a dialogue among shamanism, dream and contemporary art. A show that gives you plenty to think about. ArtGuide guides you across very different eras and geographies.
